Hello!
I'm Rita Nurday, a children's book illustrator. Ever since I was little, I've been interested in the world of literacy. Currently, my passion has grown stronger, and I want to play a role in that world.
In the past, I used to enjoy listening to my mother reading stories from children's magazines. When she was busy, I would often be captivated by the illustrations of a story that came alive in my imagination.
However, back then, we didn't have many children's books. In fact, we only had a few magazines that had become worn out from frequent use. In our village, the availability of children's books wasn't as good as it is now. Access to books was also not as easy as it is today.
Now that children have many conveniences in accessing reading materials, I want to contribute to creating the joy of their childhood. I want to work as a children's book illustrator, collaborating with publishers, agents, and writers to create meaningful works that can be enjoyed by everyone, especially children.
I use the term "everyone" because even as adults, I still enjoy reading children's books to entertain myself and see the world from a fresh perspective. In fact, many adults in the reading community enjoy children's books. So, children's books are not just for children.
Furthermore, the beauty of nature and culture serve as inspirations for my current illustrations.
The beauty of nature has such astonishing variations. I'm always fascinated by the beauty of freely growing trees and grass. How the forest shelters the earth with its grandeur and preserves the natural environment. The small creatures on the forest floor also catch my attention, such as mushrooms with unique shapes and characteristics.
Additionally, observing the culture of the surrounding community helps me understand and see how people live with their diverse customs and habits. There are many life philosophies embodied in the culture and traditions that have been passed down through generations.
From these inspirations and creative touches, I happily transform them into whimsical and distinctive works, with fine intricate details that give a sense of life. The shadowy hues of purple and yellow add warmth to the illustrations.
My works are inspired by the beauty of the surrounding nature, with its rich variety of details as the background, and the warm culture of the community as the characters.
In the creative process, I usually use digital media because it's more practical and portable. However, I'm also open to exploring various other media if given the opportunity to learn.
